automated tests - Is it possible to exceute a method from a different application in Java? -

I'm trying to automate some manual tests for the desktop app written in Java. I am using to do this, it is possible to execute parts of code on an app that is tested by the FEC and it is possible to get results back in one stream or something or there is no other test framework lets you?
