Parallel API for C/C++ on Windows -

We are developing something for the Windows platform, and we want to use many core present in the PC today.

I know that in VS2010, there is. It's still on beta, though. During this time we need to issue quality code, what is a good option for APIs that will allow smooth changes later. Other suggestions?

I know:

  • (open source)
  • C ++ 0x Thread Library Support (Anytime Cross Platform)
  • Implementation of C ++ 0x Thread Library - Allows you to start a head on using new ones. ++ Thread Library vs. 2008
  • - Build in most C ++ compilers including VS 2008.
  • - The posix threads are therefore cross platform platforms for any phosics complaint.
  • WIN32 Threading API

I would recommend Intel Thread Building Blocks as it is an intangible layer on most of the other multi-threaded APIs. This is also an open source so that you can download and see how some things are done. The upgrade version is meant to use Windows concurrency runtime if it is available. I have also read that Intel has presented TBB to be included in the C ++ standard.

If you know what you are doing, then these tools give you the most control.

I have not used new C ++ threading support yet, but they are at the same level or slightly higher like pthreads. Just something interesting about using the new C ++ thread library in the software.

I've only read about OpenMP and I'm not sure how to use it.

You want

to read the book.

Also posts several articles under the effective transmitter title.

Hope that helps.
