Dynamic languages are increasing and many of them are: e.g. Ruby, Groovy, Jyothan, Scala (stable, but a dynamic language looks and feels) etc. My background is in Java SE and EE programming and I want to improve my knowledge in these dynamic languages for the future.
But what dynamic language should I focus on and why? Which of the following will be the preferred language in the near future?
Learning Ruby or Python (and to a lesser extent Scala) means that you have a lot of transferable There will be skill - you can use Java version, original version or .NET version (IronRBI / IronPath). Groovy is good but JVM-specific.
Being "ready for a better future" is difficult as long as you do not visualize specific scenarios. What kind of thing do you want to work on? Do you have a project that you can apply in a dynamic language in a useful manner?
