emacs - How configure delete-selection-mode to only delete? -

I am using GNU Emacs 22.3.1 on Windows.

In my Emac I have Delete-Selection-Mode , and it is very useful for selecting and removing or removing any area but I have a defect.

When I write or press DEL on the selection, Amax does not remove the text only, but kills it (send it to the AKA clipboard) It is very annoying for me, because my murder-ring (aka clipboard) is not controlled and can have an unintended effect.

There is a way that delete-selection-mode does not hit the text, just delete it? Maybe modified?

(*: I've synchronized murder-ring and Windows clipboard, so for me (for practical purposes) this is the same)

Thank you, DanielPo. With the idea of Trey Jackson, the selection is still killing. And I got the reason

I found that the problem was not in the delete-selection-mode . The problem is, when I selected this area, I did it with a mouse. And never thought that it was the mouse that was copying the text set-mark using the arrow keys that are not killed at the end of the command and text, only Deleted

I have disabled this behavior by typing in my .emacs:

  (requires 'delsel') (setq mouse-drag-copy-region noil ) (Global-unset-key (Kbd "& lt; mouse-2";)) (global-unset-key (kbd "& lt; mouse -3;"))
< P> Thanks for the advice if this mouse disables its behavior Persons may conflict with other options, please note.

Have you tried emacs with -q < / Code> is starting. If I do this and only enable M-X: delete-selection-mode , then whatever you describe, you can not reproduce it. Nothing is killed just destroyed?! can you check?
